Volunteer Opportunities
The numbers may surprise you. Each year nearly 1000 high school students in our local schools simply give up. We call them dropouts, hoodlums, losers.......and kids. We rail how they won't listen to us when we tell them how hard it is out "there." And they will tell you, truthfuly, they don't care what you say. They quit listening a long time ago. What they won't tell you is why they quit listening. They quit listening to adults, because adults quit listening to them. All many of them needed was someone to just stop, and ask them how they're day was.
You don't need any specialized skills to volunteer in the life of a child. You only need a caring heart, a commitment to meet with them regularly, a willingness to listen, and a desire to help a child reach their goal. Volunteers are pillars of our organization. We have numerous volunteer opportunities currently available. If you are interested in volunteering with Communities in Schools of Forsyth county, please call and/or come to our office to fill out our application.
